Active Start | Programs for  18m - 6 years

What can I expect in Active Start programs?

We believe in that an active start gives kids the confidence they need to stay active and healthy for life. Why not get your little one movin' and groovin' in the gymnastics club! It's basically a giant, squishy, brightly coloured playground; amazing for motor and sensory development. Enjoy bright colours, silly songs, socialization, sensory play and motor development (think crawling, climbing, standing, rolling and bouncing). If you're in a parent participation class then parents, you'll get sweaty and have fun too!

Our programs follow the new Active Start curriculum by Gymnastics Canada. The curriculum offers developmentally appropriate progressions for developing physical literacy, basic gymnastics and basic movement skills. The program is designed to be fun and encourage exploration, confidence and play!

Your child will learn stationary positions, balance, supports, landings, locomotions, springs/jumping, rotations/rolling, swings and object manipulation following a structured, developmental curriculum designed by Gymnastics Canada.

Each class will follow a similar format: A fun warm up, a stretch, then 3 or 4 gymnastic circuits where the kids try out new stations each week! Our tiniest tots start with crawling, climbing, rolling and sensory development and as they progress and age they move into more advanced motor development such as swinging, hopping, skipping, and more!  We will adapt our learning progressions to be appropriate for each class once we meet them on day one. We will often end with a fun activity to encourage socialization and freeplay; some squishy block building, parachute fun, foam pit play or other fun activity our coaches have planned.

What will you get out of your gymnastics classes?
