active for life - recreation camp
It's a go! Summer Camp is running this Summer - with a few changes!
Polarettes Gymnastics Club is setting up a temporary Summer recreational gymnastics facility in the Vanier School Gym (Not the Polarettes Main Gym)...You wouldn't believe the amount of equipment we have hiding away in our storage unit, and now you get to see first hand our ability to expand ;)
While there will be no foam pit, the gym will be equipped with uneven bars, parallel bars, balance beams, floor space, vaults, play equipment, and a gigantic air tumble track. It will be a whole second gymnastics club!
In addition to a change of venue, your camper will be outside A LOT! We are so fortunate to be in beautiful Riverdale, close to many nature trails, big fields, and parks. Each group will have a gymnastics or parkour lesson every day, and will spend the majority of the rest of the day outside adventuring with our enthusiastic camp leaders!
With the help of Lotteries Yukon, we have brand new outdoor games that promote physical distancing; Ladderball, Spikeball, Basket Balls, Badminton, Ninjalines, Slacklines...you name it, we probably have it!
For everyone's safety, we have split our camp into mini camps each week, they will operate as their own units within the larger space. When registering, you'll register for a specific "Camper Crew". Your camper crew will have specific staff assigned for the entire week, and they will have their own schedule. The Camper Crews will not be intermingling this Summer.
Minimum age is 6 years old, we will only be accepting new registrations for 6 year old children after July 5th (Exception will be made ONLY for 6 year old who were already registered for the first two weeks of camp before we cancelled them the first time, you will have to call to register 867-668-4794)

A day in the life...
Every day will be slightly different, and every group will have a slightly different rotation of activities...but here's an example of an average day Camp Polarettes
Kids will be dropped off outside the gym with their camp leaders and taken inside to their zone
There will be puzzles, colouring, and other quite activities available for the morning
The first activity is making Twig Boats racing down the river! The Camper Crew will head out to collect twigs and branches to create their creative twig boat. They will get to race it down the river later today!
Kids will come back inside wash their hands before their gymnastics classes in the temporary gym
The kids will be taken upstairs and instructed in mindfulness activities by their coaches
The group will be taken outside for arts and crafts in nature
The kids will eat lunch at their tables with their group after washing their hands
The kids will use the twigs they collected earlier in the day to make a raft
Walk to the bridge on the millennium trail and launch their rafts
The group will go on a nature walk to the island off the millennium trail and learn about the plant life on the island
The group will go into the soccer field behind Vanier and play outdoor activities like the ninjaline, Spikeball, soccer, badminton, etc...
The kids will go back to their group tables and do a quiet activity until they are picked up
